1.3 BASIC INPUT/OUTPUT SYSTEM (BIOS)

BIOS is the base program that a processor uses to start the computer after it is turned on. It also manages data flow between the computers operating system and attached devices. It is already installed when you purchase a computer, unlike an operating system which can be installed before or after you have purchased the computer.
